The Alys Beach code set up the most compelling features of the underlying theme, but wall heights, roof lines, and window rhythms of adjacent houses also repeat themselves in the Robert Orr design.
Among the distinctive ROA designed elements of the house's composition, the open colonnade pergola and the gable peak with projecting chimney offer an appropriate crescendo and turning of the corner at the end of the row. The chimney leans back as if to arrest the syncopated movement of the five houses.
Individual rooms articulate to appear like separate houses banded together around a courtyard. Each “house” has a roof that orients in a different direction to accentuate the effect, but inthe interior, the open plan allows for ultimate fluidity.
